Mesen est un excellent émulateur NES/Famicom et un lecteur de fichiers NSF pour Windows et Linux apparu courant 2016.

Le nom "Mesen" est à la fois un mot japonais (signifiant "le regard d'une personne") et un jeu de mot sur le terme "NES Emulator": "NES Emulator" -> "NES Em" -> "Mesen" (à l'envers).

Toujours au stade beta mais bénéficiant de mises à jour régulières, l'émulateur parvient déjà à détrôner les ténors de sa catégorie en termes de précision et de fonctionnalités.

Cette version est un béta - les sauvegardes d'état, vidéos, etc. créés dans cette version pourraient ne pas être compatibles avec les versions ultérieures de Mesen.

Nouvelles fonctionnalités

- Compatibilité : Mesen supporte maintenant 29 nouveaux mappers.
- VS System : Les jeux VS DualSystem sont maintenant supportés.
- Audio : Amélioration de la synchronisation audio/vidéo.

Problèmes corrigés

- PPU : Amélioration du bus mémoire du PPU (corrige des problèmes avec le homebrew Touhou Rououmu)
- Correction de problèmes avec l'émulation de certains types de cartouches (FK23C, JY Company, MMC1, ect.)

Apple II




AppleWin (également connu sous le nom de Apple //e Emulator for Windows) est un émulateur open source pour faire fonctionner les programmes Apple II+ ou Apple IIe, micros commercialisés pour la première fois en 1977 et conçus par Steve Jobs et Steve Wozniak.

La famille des Apple II (parfois orthographié Apple ][ ou Apple //) constitue la première série de micro-ordinateurs conçue par Apple vers la fin des années 1970 et au début des années 1980. Complètement différents des ordinateurs ultérieurs d'Apple que sont les Macintosh, l'Apple II avait une architecture principalement 8 bits. Ces ordinateurs ont des capacités graphiques limitées à 16 couleurs pour un affichage en 280*192.

La gamme fût déclinée en :
Apple II (1977), Apple II+ (1979), Apple IIe (1983), Apple IIc (1984), Apple IIe Enhanced (1984), Apple IIgs (1986) et Apple IIc (1988).

AppleWin était à l'origine écrit par Mike O'Brien en 1994; O'Brien lui-même a annoncé une première version de l'émulateur en avril 1995, juste avant la sortie de Windows 95. Le développement de AppleWin fut transmis à Oliver Schmidt et est maintenant mis à jour par Tom Charlesworth. AppleWin a initialement besoin au minimum d'un CPU Intel 486 et est écrit en C++.

[MAJ] South Park sur Gameboy Color dans la Foire aux Roms!

Salut tout le monde!



Cela faisait longtemps qu'il n'y avait pas eu du frais dans la Foire aux Roms... Profitez de cet été un peu trop chaud pour lui donner un coup de frais!

Si vous avez suivi l'actualité des jeux unreleased cette semaine, vous n'êtes pas sans savoir qu'un jeu à fait surface il y a peu, sorti d'outre-tombe, ou plutôt de 1998. A cette période là, Acclaim avait pour projet de sortir un jeu South Park sur Gameboy Color. Le jeu était terminé, prêt à sortir ou presque, quand les créateurs de la série, visiblement outré qu'un jeu issu de leur dessin animé plutôt vulgaire et pas très adapté aux jeunes enfants (auxquels se destinent la console portable de Nintendo), ont fait annulé la sortie du jeu. Et c'est vingt ans plus tard que la ROM complète du jeu refait surface sur les Internet. Il semblerait que les créateurs de la série auraient gardé un prototype du jeu... peut-être que cette fuite vient de chez eux!

Pour l'anecdote, Acclaim n'a pas voulu que tout le travail fait soit perdu. En Amérique du Nord, les niveaux ont été séparé en deux et deux jeux Mary-Kate & Ashley sont sortis, avec des graphismes remaniés forcément. Idem en Europe, sauf que cette fois c'est Maya l'Abeille et Ses Amis. D'ailleurs, certains joueurs ont réussi à trouver des sprites inutilisés de Kenny et Stan dans ce jeu... On a porté à ma connaissance que cdifan a sorti une toute nouvelle version de son émulateur "CDI Emulator 0.5.3" en version Beta 4 le 8 Juillet 2018.

Voici sa liste de nouveautés :

- CD-i 180 emulation is now supported.

- Audio can now be saved in the native sample rate ???

- A faster and more flexible video combiner has been implemented;
as a result there may be some new video emulation bugs.

There are a number of known issues in this version:

- CD-i 180 pointing device emulation does not work (it did before).


NOTE IMPORTANTE : Seul la version Beta 4 a l'implémentation de la NVRAM, c'est à dire que vous pouvez (enfin) sauvegarder avec la version 0.5.3 !
Chose impossible avec la Beta 3, 2 et 1 dont l'auteur avait volontairement supprimé le code permettant de sauvegarder.

[FUN] L'image de la semaine: les boites en carton sur Switch, c'est mieux

Salut tout le monde! smile.gif


Vous n'êtes pas sans savoir qu'actuellement, la console qui cartonne en terme de chiffres de ventes un peu partout dans le monde, c'est la Switch. Si ça se trouve même, vous en possédez une et vous en êtes très contents. Mais bon, ça manque de saveur ces petites boites minces qui ne font pas top sur une étagère, alors pourquoi ne pas les pimper?! Un petit gars sur Twitter a eu l'idée géniale de transformer ses boites Switch en plastique en simili-boites de Super NES en carton!

Nouvelle release pour l'émulateur arcade par excellence, mais aussi ordi/consoles depuis qu'il a intégré MESS avec sa version 0.162.

Principales nouveautés :

It’s the end of another month, and time for your scheduled MAME release, with more of everything we know you love. In a last-minute update, we slipped in a major performance optimisation for bgfx video output. It’s particularly noticeable when using cropped artwork, and there’s no longer a big performance penalty for bringing up the menu over the emulation on macOS. Another core improvement is support for TAP/TUN networking on Windows, providing a big performance improvement when connecting an emulated system to a network on the host machine.

From the department of things considered lost to time, MAME 0.201 allows you to play as Chuby the octopus, in the incredibly elusive Spanish game Night Mare. Unfortunately the sound ROMs were missing, so you won’t be able to hear Chuby speak, and we still need to be on the lookout for the export version known as Clean Octopus. And speaking of rare games from Spain, two more Magnet System titles have been dumped: A Day in Space and The Burning Cavern.

Newly dumped versions of supported arcade games include prototypes of Halley’s Comet (Taito) and Dog Fight (Orca), a newer version of the original Master Boy (Gaelco), and the Korean release of Raiden II (Seibu Kaihatsu). A redumped ROM allowed Psychic Force EX to run correctly. The vgmplay logged music player has had a big update in this release, with support for several more sound chips and a comprehensive software list.

And this brings us to audio improvements, which seem to have all crowded their way into this release. We have fixes for long-standing sound bugs in Twin Eagle, Targ and Spectar. Sound in Amazing Maze is no longer cut off after thirty seconds or so. There are some big changes for QSound and Taito Zoom ZSG-2 that should make things sound nicer. There’s also preliminary support for the NEC PC-FX’s HuC6230 SoundBox, but be aware it has a DC offset so you’ll hear a big thud when you start or stop it.

Recent improvements in NEC PC-98 emulation have seen dozens of titles promoted to working status, and we’ve added another batch of dumps from Neo Kobe Collection. There are a number of fixes that improve TI-99 floppy and cassette support in this release. InterPro systems can now be used via a serial terminal in configurations without a video card or keyboard. At long last, the Apple //c Plus can boot from its internal floppy drive. Other improvements to computer emulation include better keyboard support for Amiga systems, and improved GPU emulation for the HP Integral PC.

MAMEUI 0.201


MAMEUI [précédemment Mame32] est la version GUI de MAME, et c'est donc la version la plus utilisée.

Si l'on devait autrefois la version de MAMEUI64 à JohnIV, aujourd'hui les 2 builds 32 et 64 bits sont compilés et maintenus par Robbbert. Ils comprennent MAME dans son intégralité (y compris MESS) et sont disponibles sur le site de MESSUI.
A noter que depuis la version 0.180, MAMEUI adopte l'interface de l'ancien MESSUI (plus aboutie), ce dernier redevenant comme précédemment un émulateur multi ordi/consoles seulement (le support de l'arcade étant exclusivement réservé à MAMEUI).

[ABD] L'été n'est pas fini!

Salut tout le monde! wink.gif


Après un petit mois de juillet de repos niveau ajouts de jeux abandonwares, on revient juste avant la fin du mois d'août! Et comme d'habitude, on commence comme d'habitude avec les chiffres de l'abandonware sur GameTronik pour le mois de juillet:

- 616 téléchargements toutes sections confondues, soit une baisse énorme de 392 téléchargements par rapport au mois de juin;
- même si la section Aventure reste toujours la plus populaire, elle subit tout de même une petite baisse liée au grand soleil d'été (217, -44);
- la section Stratégie, pourtant souvent dans les tops DL, n'a pas fait l'unanimité en cette période estivale (65, -75).

L'été n'est pas fini, certains sont même encore encore en vacances, mais pour beaucoup, ce vendredi est synonyme de dernier jour des vacances d'été. Mais ce n'est pas grave, vu que la saison estivale n'est pas terminé, pourquoi ne pas se lancer dans deux nouveaux jeux qui sentent bon les vacances (sportives)? Tout d'abord, un jeu de tennis qui, s'il ne sent pas l'iode ni même les graphismes en VGA, n'est pas inintéressant: Match Point Tennis. Et pour finir, un jeu qu'on ne présente plus, qui vous rappellera les longues balades à moto en campagne ou le long de la côte: Super Hang On.

MESS 0.201


Compilé et maintenu par Robbbert, MESS est une version de MAME amputée de sa partie Arcade et supportant donc seulement l'émulation ordi/consoles.
Rappelons que depuis la version 0.193, vous n'avez plus besoin d'installer MAME avant de procéder à l'installation de MESS.

Tout comme MAME et MAMEUI, MESS nous arrive en version 0.201.

A noter que depuis la version 0.199, seul le build pour Windows 32 bits est maintenu.

De plus, depuis la version 0.198, MESSUI (MESS avec l'interface de MAMEUI) n'est plus maintenu par Robbbert, faute de temps pour s'occuper de 2 builds au final quasiment identiques, toutes les fonctions de MESSUI étant supportées par MAMEUI.

Cependant il nous donne le moyen de continuer à utiliser MESSUI avec ces quelques manipulations basiques :

ARCADE 0.201


ARCADE est une version dérivée de MAME pour Windows maintenue par Robbbert et basée sur le code source du défunt MAMEUIFX.

Tout comme MAMEUIFX avant lui, ce build supporte seulement l'émulation arcade, MESS étant exclu du projet.
Les jeux "bonus" qui étaient présents dans MAMEUIFX ne sont par contre plus supportés par ARCADE, cependant vous pouvez les retrouver dans le build nommé HBMAME.

Nouvelle version pour cet émulateur MS-DOS vous permettant de rejouer à d'anciens titres parus sur PC dont certains sont disponibles dans nos diverses sections abandonwares.

A maintenance release for DOSBox 0.74, which solves the following problems:
- Windows: Fix auto/max cycles algorithm on Windows 7, which helps with stuttering audio.
- Mac OS X: Bring a 64 bit version and improve performance.
- Linux: Fix the 64bit dynrec cpu core and a lot of compilation problems. Add patches for the WINE Team.

The game compatibility should be identical to 0.74.

We have saved all game fixes for the upcoming 0.75 release, which will enter regression testing soon. This release has been created so you can go back to 0.74-2, in case we happen to break your favourite game in 0.75.

- Fix clang compliation with asm fpu core.
- Fix mapper crash on startup and when changing the mapper key.
- Fix compilation in VS2015.
- Fix compilation on mingw64.
- Fix compilation on Frisbee and newer clang.
- Fix compilation machines that have X11 libraries installed, but use a SDL
without X11.
- Fix a few problems relating to video capturing:
- Writing out the index too often. (slowdown with longer captures)
- Not being aware of when only the refresh rate changed.
- Fix call order when bitshifting the return order (VS C /O2 builds).
- Fix sign-extension error in S3 draw funcion, i.e. win3.1 analog clock.
- Fix expanddot not caring about the size of the inputbuffer.
- Some fixes for the debugger related to starting a program through debug.com.
- Bring OS/2 port code up to date.
- Reduce the amount of warning when compiling with quite a bit.
- Allow 15/26/32 bits input to the opengl output.
- Add cmd-q as exit key for macs.
- Fix icon and titlebar on very old setups.
- Fix off by one display size calculation errors with very large displays.
- Fix out of bounds access the unused byte in the 32 bit colour value of the
hardware mouse cursor pixel was affected.
- Fix depreciated warnings on Mac, allow soundfont loading for coreaudio.
- Keep repeating a pressed key if another key was unpressed.
- Fix crash on OS X related to putting junk in the titlebar.
- Extend fullresolution=0x0 to work on Linux and Mac.
- Change gameblaster and tandy sound core to latest mame version.
- Improve numlock and capslock support on Linux and Macs. Still not perfect
on Windows.
- Added even more code to workaround Windows behaving weirdly with alt-tab.

Nova v0.4


Nova est un nouvel émulateur Sega Saturn développé par SteveKwok en C++11 pour Windows. Le programme permet déjà de lancer des jeux commerciaux (captures d'écran sur la page Twitter de l'auteur).

Toujours en attendant la prochaine version 0.3 stable, voici une nouvelle version de développement "Work In Progress" pour Supermodel, le désormais célèbre émulateur arcade SEGA Model 3 développé par Bart Trzynadlowski, qui passe en révision 739.

Sega bass fishing is starting some off the meshes with a shared vertex. Without having a previous vertex to share with, the values were just uninitialised and junk. The hardware itself seems to hold the value from the previous mesh, and sega bass fishing relies on this undefined behaviour to function correctly. Storing the cached vertices as member variables instead of locally to the function means it holds the values from the last mesh, and uses those values instead of random garbage.

[ACTU] PolyMega: la console CD du futur rétro

Vous n'en avez peut-être pas entendu parler, mais une nouvelle console "clone" va sortir et sera même en précommande dès demain: la PolyMega.



Kézako cette console, et surtout qu'apporte-t-elle de plus que les autres clones rétro? Tout simplement le support CD, et pas n'importe quoi: on pourra faire tourner dessus de la PC-Engine CD, de la Playstation, de la Saturn, Neogeo CD et du Mega-CD, le tout en 1080p sur un écran moderne! Elle devrait être basée sur une émulation hybride logicielle/matérielle, donc pas de l'émulation hardware pure (risque de liste blanche pour certains jeux donc). Il est également possible de jouer avec les manettes d'époque, ce qui est appréciable. Bien sûr, il sera possible de jouer avec des jeux cartouches en plus du support disque.

Mais attention, la console a un prix: on parle de 300$ pour le modèle de base, après il se peut qu'il faille rajouter des modules d'émulation supplémentaires pour de futures consoles qui ne seront pas supportés à la sortie du bousin. Mais quand on voit les tarifs des consoles CD supportées par cet engin, on se retrouve finalement à faire une bonne affaire... si le matos suit bien.
